— Dr. Devika

Welcome!

We are always growing and changing and may face different challenges in life. This can be especially hard if you are a person of color, biracial, and from a diasporic population. Sometimes you can mask it and push it away, and sometimes it may come out in physical and emotional ways.  There may be some issues or trauma that have always been in the background that you haven’t addressed, that you may be more ready to work on.  You also may have medical issues or adjustments that may be difficult. You may not be able to work on your relationships (intimate or family) in a healthy manner and need some help with cultural understanding. Your child or teen may not be opening up or seeming distressed.  You also may be in college and having a hard time managing life and academic goals.

If you are from a diasporic community where your parents or grandparents immigrated to the United States and may be exploring your own identity issues which can be isolating at times, like you’re stuck on an island by yourself.  You may also have different values, expectations, work or dating preferences from your family which may cause conflict, and don’t know what to do. On the flip-side, you may be experiencing problems with your children, that may be very culturally different from how you were brought up and communication may be difficult leading to conflict. I am here to help!
